Bank TuranAlem Awarded
20.07.2006 / Press-serviceThe Award was officially announced on 13 July, in London. Certificate for the Award for Excellence will presented by Martin Th. Born, Russia and CIS Director to Roman Solodchenko, Finance Director of BTA on 24 July in Almaty.
Awarding BTA with Best FIG Borrower – Emerging Europe, "EUROMONEY" commission took into account principles of innovation of technologies and products applied by Bank TuranAlem in the market: BTA was the first in Kazakhstan to issue 200 million Polish Zlotys bonds (67 million USD) - "the deal was larger than most Eurobonds in the currency not issued by the Polish government". Demand for the issue was so high – primarily from European asset management companies – that the lead managers were able to announce and price the transaction in a single day.
The commission highlighted first Islamic deal, a $50 million one-year trade finance murabaha, in 2005; recent $200 million three-year murabaha loan; Asian syndicated $110 million loan, directed at South-East Asia businessmen; as well as BTA’s loyalty to the traditional Eurobond market – "it sold a $250 million seven-year Eurobond in April"

During the meeting, Martin Th. Born and Roman Solodchenko will discuss the issues regarding VII Almaty Interbank Conference "International capital market and its role in development of financial systems and economies of CIS states" on 27-28 September, organized by BTA.

On 29 June, in London, Bank TuranAlem was also awarded for participation in the best deal of 2005. "Deal of the Year 2005" was presented by "Trade Finance" publication for long-term financing of oil tankers import from Russia to Kazakhstan. The Award was conferred in most complicated type of crediting - structured trade financing. The deal included Kazakh company Mobilex Energy Limited, Vyborg shipbuilding factory, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The deal is a part of strategically important Kazakhstan project - construction of oil-loading terminal in Aktau port.
This year only two Kazakh banks were nominated by "EUOMONEY". None of Central Asian and CIS banks received the Award.
